how to configure for hp scanjet 2200c scanner

Asked by viper

My scanner is hp scanjet 2200c.

After running sane-find-scanner I got the following msg :

found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0 [Hewlett-Packard], product=0x0605 [HP ScanJet 2200C], chip=LM9832/3) at libusb:001:012

ok, sane found the usb scanner. I then run scanimage -L and got the following msg:

[dll] init: backend `epkowa' is version 1.0.208
[dll] sane_get_devices: found 1 devices
device `plustek:libusb:001:011' is a Hewlett-Packard Scanjet 2200c flatbed scanner
[dll] sane_exit: exiting
[dll] sane_exit: calling backend `hpaio's exit function
[dll] sane_exit: calling backend `v4l's exit function

It looks like sane detected my scanner. But, when I try to scan a page of document I got the following errror :

scanimage: sane_read: Operation was cancelled

and the scanner made very loud noise!

Please help.

The scanners might have no protection against exceeding the physical scan area height. That is, if a scan is attempted with a height that exceeds the height of the scan surface, the scanner begins making loud noises and the scan mechanism may be damaged. Thus, if you hear such a noise, IMMEDIATELY turn off the scanner. This shouldn’t happen if your scanner is in the list of known scanners.

Hope this helps

marcobra,

I am using Ubuntu 8.04

Thank you, I figured it out. The bottom of my scanner there is an lock/unlock mechanism for transported. I thought I unlock it completely but I did not. When I unlock it completely then it's ok. Thanks for your help anyway.
