Upgrade to version 3.4.4 of Samba?

Asked by Espen Oen Lie

I have the same problem as reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/samba/+bug/462172. When copying many files from Win7 to a samba share I get 'Too many files are currently in use'. Fix is released, but not available / rolled out for ubuntu server 9.10. Is this due in nearest future? I'm reluctant to compile it myself.

Samba 3.4.7 is available in Ubuntu 10.04, which will be released on 2010-04-29.

If you can't wait, you can get beta2 here:

http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/lucid/beta2

I would guess that Ubuntu 9.10 will not see that patch any time soon. Your best bet is 10.04.

Good luck!
