configuration error

i recently upgraded my PC from dapper drake to edgy . After upgradation , whenever I used to login in a terminal the following message is displayed once I type the username
"configuration error - unknown item 'FAIL_DELAY' (notify administrator)"
after that it asks for the password. there is no trouble logging in
what can be the possible reasons? . Where can be the configuration error ?

Check nsswitch.conf , pam , login.defs configuration at etc.
