smb2 client ubuntu 12.04

Asked by Mahmud Siddiqi

Is the SMB2 protocol supported in 12.04 ? If so, where can the behavior of the client be configured?
I am not interested in running a Samba server, the 12.04 system needs to connect as a client to a shared
resource made available over SMB.

smb-client is in a default install. It should be able to connect to what you need.

Yes, but is the ** SMB2 ** protocol specifically supported, with any/some/all of its enhancements over SMB? Can the client behavior be controlled, e.g. default to SMB2 but fall back to SMB, or disallow anything other than SMB2?

This topic does not seem to be specifically addressed in the documentation I can find.

Samba supports SMB2 since version 3.5. Ubuntu 12.04 comes with 3.6.
But please check the installed version on your own!

Can you help with this problem?
