need access to zyxel nas 310 with ubuntu 12.04

2 enquires ...Question 1.......how do i set up 12.04 to access my zyxel nas 310 server and folders via the network option given in home folder section of 12.04 ,.Question 2........... .can access the folders via the zyxel home page but it asks for a early version of vlc to be installed which ubuntu does not offer , i cannot find one or other option they suggest is Real player to access the folders/play media ,cannot find version to suit ubuntu tryed other media players offerd by ubuntu none of which work

if run smbtree i see nothing . if it helps theres two ubuntu pcs runin, the folders on each are shared are showing on either machine .file sharing and networking is install on both pcs , ubuntu folders also can not be found on windows 7 laptop .if go to home floder in ubuntu click network say unable to mount etc brings up no reference to the NAS unit only windows network like said before can access the NAS home page via ip addre,ss but need suitable media player .either way to access would be good but would prefer via the home folder and click network .unabl to access applies to both Ubuntu machines

Hi no can get either ubuntu 12.04 machines to recognised the nas ip address .i know in what the i p address is from previous version of ubuntus which was install on the same machines .tryed typing it the address bar tells me page unaviable.the early version of ubuntu was 10.04 lts which found the nas with no problems either by typing in address or clicking on browse networks .have spoke to zxyel they its operating system configeration is needed the 7 machine picks up with no drivers installed can be set up through samba maybe if so how never used it or set it up .as use the the basic file sharing with no problems

what Win7 does is of zero value, it is a completely different OS with different support and installed software.
