Samba does not show as installed in synaptic. Attempted installation via synaptic and received the same error message detailing a problem with dependencies.

when downloading apps via synaptic, Samba again was tried to be installed. This time I caught the error message:

E: samba-common: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10
E: samba-common-bin: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
E: samba: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
E: smbclient: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

I did as you recommended, and got over 512 lines of errors, so, apparently it was a bad burn. I just reformatted the drive, and reinstalled the 10.04 32bit software that I had used to try it out. Good install, and no problems.

So, just close the file on this one, and thanks for the help
