Sage in Artful?

Asked by Fernando

Will there be a sagemath package for Ubuntu 17.10? I've installed this version in a laptop, as it is the latest. Then I've noticed that the traditional PPA doesn't have a version of sagemath because now it's a package in the official repos, but it's not available for artful.

That's just a PPA. There is no "traditional PPA". If you have an issue with a PPA then I suggest you contact the PPA maintainer.

If you read my question, I have no issues with any PPA.

The question says "the traditional PPA doesn't have a version of sagemath"

Sounds like you expect the PPA to have a version of sagemath... No?

Most PPAs have versions of packages which are also in the official repositories.

No, I expected the package in the repos, which started being available in Zesty, were also available in Artful. It has a package in development for Bionic, that's why I'm wondering about the absence of the official package in Artful.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sagemath/+changelog

Says:
Deleted in artful-proposed (Reason: Moved to bionic-proposed)

Is that an option in the GUI application installer? To enable that?

Can you help with this problem?
