Does Ubuntu allow for the synchronization (between a laptop and a desktop) of offline files?

Asked by Michael Barth

For years I have been regularly synchronizing offline files on my laptop with my desktop using Windows XP Pro. I am looking to replace these computers and upgrade the operating systems, but I want to make sure I can still synchronize offline files in a similar manner. Does this process work the same with Ubuntu? Thanks for your help!

You could have a script to rsync the files from the server to the laptop on logon. Or you could use dropbox / ubuntuone to hold the files online and changes will be sent to both.

Can you help with this problem?
