Roundup StringIO error

Asked by Mark Glossop

Hi,

We're running Ubuntu Server 12.04.1 LTS (Precise) with Roundup 1.4.18-1.1.

Currently encountering bug #2550713 [http://issues.roundup-tracker.org/issue2550713] on Python 2.7.3.

Apparently this bug was fixed in 1.4.19 [as per release notes at http://pypi.python.org/pypi/roundup/1.4.19].

Ubuntu Server 12.10 (Quantal) has Roundup 1.4.20-1, so I don't expect it would be experiencing this issue.

Is there any chance that the fix for this particular bug will find its way into precise-backports (or similar option)?

Thanks!

You have two options

1. You can request a backport see here for how to do it.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBackports

2. You can manually update the version you have using the version in quantal see here
http://packages.ubuntu.com/

more specifically here:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/quantal/roundup

check the dependencies carefully as you may need to install other updated packages first

More specifically, up until now I'd completely missed all the content about backports on the wiki; my bad. That link also led me to the information at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates which I suspect is more what I had in mind.
