Sorry to ask, but.... are you installing through the "Synaptic Package Manager"? and do you have KDE installed already from it? If so, it should take care of all that... though I'm typing this as I install it myself.
Yep. Open the Package Manager (System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager); type your own password when it asks for one. Using the Quick Search box, find KDE and install it (at least the core package, then anything else you like in KDE). Rosegarden is also available, if you haven't already installed it.
Any time you want to install something in Ubuntu, the safest way to do it is through the Package Manager. If it isn't listed there, or you need a newer version, you can go from there to look for an alternate installation package.

Thanks, Larry. I was using Synaptic but didn't have a clue what KDE packages/files to select. Synaptic selected 28 files when I selected just the core package. Rosegarden Manual was then available. Still have minor problem with links in the Help tab of Rosegaren such as www.kde.org. Looking for "kfmclient" but unable to access it. I did "sudo apt-get install kfmclient" (believe that is correct) but hyper links still do not work directly. My workaround is just to use Firefox and type in the URL.
