The Jack Server is available through the jackd package:

Package: jackd (0.103.0-6ubuntu1) [universe]

Low-latency sound server. JACK allows the connection of multiple applications to an audio device, as well as allowing them to share audio between themselves.

See <http://jackit.sourceforge.net/> for more info.

This package contains the daemon jackd as well as some example clients.

start the Jack server. Either from terminal:

jackd -R -d alsa

or with the gui:

sudo apt-get install qjackctl

and then you will find a menu entry Jack Control under Sound & Video

Bhavani Shankar.
