Faster update process

Asked by alfredo

Hi,

I wonder why jami is still not available in the official ubuntu package for 22.04 LTS. Also, the latest version is almost 4 years old 15/02/2019 and is only available for 20.04.

Thanks

Thank you. So will we finally see jami on ubuntu 22.04?

I doubt it. Ubuntu 22.04 has been published more than half a year ago, and the Ubuntu strategy is not adding anything afterwards, unless there is a good reason.

You can try requesting a backport to Jammy, see FAQ #3037: “no rolling release” for the rules related to that, but I am not optimistic that this will happen. Currently it is not even feasible, because the build attempt for Ubuntu 23.04 failed for all architectures, see https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ring/20210112.2.b757bac~ds1-2

Maybe someone creates a PPA with such version. If you don't find anyone else, then you are invited to create a PPA yourself.

Can you help with this problem?
