rhythmbox music player doesnt make sound

i do not know whether this is the problem of my music player. ubuntu doesnt make any sound whatsoever. but the windows xp in the system works well with win amp .what shall be its problem?

If the problem depends by PulseAudio after reboot should works.

Please follow step 1, then reboot and send us output from step 3 and step 4 in this procedure:

Please also specify the exact model and make of your pc.

Please also test if you hear sound when playing mp3's via the speakers or headphones while using other music players, like vlc, mplayer, xine, totem, amarok, etc... (= crosstesting approach)
