Rhythmbox MP3 plugin

My Rhythmbox 0.9.6 (standard in Edgy) complains that "the GStreamer plugins to decode 'MP3' files cannot be found". Below is a list of GStreamer packages installed on my system. What exactly is this Rhythmbox looking for?

The ugly one is needed, the bad one seems to be optional. I thought I had everything because I had the 'multiverse' versions, but apparently not. Here is the list of what I have right now and what seems to be essential:

Until a few days ago Rhythmbox played my mp3's withouth any problem. But since after an automatic update about a week ago, it does no more.
I have a fully patched ubuntu 8.10 which was updated from 8.04 a few months ago.
All other apps that are based on gstreamer still play the mp3's but I prefer Rhythmbox for listening music.
I checked the plugins mentioned above, and they are installed.
