Rhythmbox requires two starts to open

Asked by dlfuller

Confirming Question #73842 asked on 2009-06-08 by adapaganesh, I have the same problem. It takes two start attempts to get Rhythymbox running. Repeatable every time.

I have a very basic default installation of Jaunty. First time, "Starting Rhythmbox" shows in a tab then disappears. Second time, "Starting Rhythmbox" shows again which this time changes into the regular Rhythmbox tab.

Yes, there is an icon the first time. I never paid attention to that icon.

Ah Hah! Now I get it. If I check the "Show Music Player" in the dropdown menu under that icon, Rhythymbox now opens on its first attempt.

Kinda backward. I'd think checking that box should be the default for newbie users not oriented to all those systembar icons.

Thanks for your help. Problem solved.

I have this same issue. From the start menu (Applications>Sound & Video), I click "Rhythmbox Music Player" and it does not open. When I click the same icon again, the application opens.
