correct filename of plugin to install to play mp3 for the first time

Asked by Jillian

hello, it's my first time using ubuntu, and i've read the posts on installing the gst plugin to play mp3 with rhythmbox, but i can't seem to get the correct filename.. would someone post here the correct filename? and by the way, is this the right code? sudo apt-get install <filename>? just confirming. if that's it, can i get the filename? i've looked in the gstreamer website and tried each of the ff:
sudo apt-get install gst0.10.5-plugins-ugly
sudo apt-get install gst-plugins-ugly
but in both case it said couldn't find the package.. can someone help me on this? thanks.

Thanks for your question. If you are using the Ubuntu 7.04 there is not problem to install manually the plugin pakages. The system will automatly downloads the right pkgs you need. If you have a old version like 6.10, you can see this how-to:

https://help.ubuntu.com/6.10/ubuntu/desktopguide/en_GB/codecs.html

thanks
