Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

are u sure u installed the proper packages for mp3-support? the meta package "ubuntu-restricted-extras" will do that for u. u can either find it inside add/remove or synaptic.
but be aware that mp3 is protected by patents, so if u are not sure about the legal issues in your country, the legally secure way might be to purchase the codec(s) from the software chapter of the ubuntu shop

For playing MP3 formats the essential codec is necessary.Go to "Add or Remove" in "Applications" menu and search for "gst-fluendo-mp3" codec (or simply MP3).Check the appropriate codec and press "Apply"

Note : For this you will need an working internet connection
