rhythmbox doesn't play anymore

Asked by Taynie

My music doesn't play (anymore) I listened to musik, went to work, tried to get my computer to sleep instead of closing down totally. Somehow it doesn't work because the screen are totally black when i start it up again. I heard my music play and it came to an abrupt halt. Because the screen remained black I had to shut the computer down and restart. When I restarted Firefox regenerated the sides I was on but my music doesn't play. I tried to import it again. Some errors messages appears bur my music is still there, bur not playing. I can also find the music in the lost files map, what ever they are doing there I don't know or how they got there. Cant play it anymore. Tried the radio but no sounds come. I don't if it it's connected to the problem. haven't try the radio before, perhaps it never worked. But i played the music and it worked. bur not anymore. But nothing new seemed to have happened that haven't happened before. I tried to put mu computer to sleep and i couldn't wake it up that time either. But i had no problem playing music.c that time. Would appreciate if someone new something useful to help fix the problem. I prefer not to wait some days to see if it might fix it self.

Also I nothing seems to happen when click NumLk i to try to write numbers. Only when I log on the computer do they work. Otherwise I have to use the ones above the letters. That wasn't a problem before, and again I haven't changed any settings that I mean should affect it. I suddenly just couldn't use them and nothing happens when i try to acitvate them with the NumLK.
Seems like my computer suddenly lives on its own with all that happens and I doesn't seems do have changed anything that should affect it. I only changed settings for the mouse because its to sensitive and i seems to click even when i not intend to. I doesn't even notice i touched the touchpad. It's gotten a bit better after I changed the settings but still happens.

Rhythmbox not playing is for me the biggest problem and the one I'm most clueless about So I hope that someone might be able to help me out.

OK... may seem simple... but have you checked the wires and made sure they are all connected. Have you checked under volume control to make sure that it is not muted?

I don't know what you mean about the wires. is it for radio? It's not muted, when i try to play the music and press play it's not moving fovard. it doesn't start at al.

For wires I meant speaker wires.

I have not heard of it just not 'moving' when you press play... have you tried double-clicking on a song?

Yes, i tried that to, and there is nothing wrong whit the speakers because I could se a move over the internet and that worked find since i updated things so it could read it. But when i try to play music (the same music that has been played) it's not working. It said playing and it stays on 00:00 whitout moving.

My music seems to be working just fine today, but I haven't changed anything since yesterday when it didn't work. I dosen't understand a singel thing but I'm happy that it's working again, whatever the problem was.
Could it be that my ocmputer somhow yust needed to be restarted? Though I don't understand how that should affect it. I hope it doesn't happen again, now I just have to figure out how to strat writing numbers again otherwise than when I'm starting. The NumLk/ScrLK doesn't seem to have any affect on it. Perhaps it's just normal that Linux likes to play tricks whit new users before hey got used to it. Could be some of it standards perhaps :P

Glad it is working... but I have never experienced or heard of a user that had a similar problem.

I saw others that seemed to have the same problem or at least two. one said that it canme back a couple of days later: But I didn't want to wait that long an se if it came back. But luckily I didn't have to it fixed it self in a day. i just hope it doesn't happen again. Have no idea of what it was and I checkt on every possible thing you could do if it could help but nothing seemed to work so there was no other option than to wait or write and ask about it her. Mystic : P

I do...
The problem from the fact that there is a problem with your modules when you try to put your computer to sleep. The reason is that the module is not unload properly before going to sleep and then the state of your sound card is not correctly clean. Generally a reboot can do the trick or simply unloading and reloading the sound card driver.

But on some other configurations it may be necessary to restore a working asound.state file.

Search the net for your laptop model and see if there is a couple of workaround that you could use to make your computer sleep properly.
