all songs doubled in rythmbox

Asked by ChristianStamm

Hi,

I have my audio files in a folder, that lives on a storage partition and is softlinked into my homedir.

First i imported the folder manually (don't know wether from te storage partition or from home), then i found the possibility to watch that folder for changes. I set the folder to watch for the softlinked path. Rythmbox then imported each and any song again, so there is always two entries for the same file.

I would need help in either removing one of the paths or resetting rythmbox for a clean reimport. I can't find any possibility to do so.

thanks for any help
christian

I'm running Edgy Eft. Rythmbox is version 0.9.6

sorry for the piecewise info. Neither setting the folder to the other location nor to an empty location helps.

When in Rhythmbox, press the F1 key, or you can go to the menu item Help>Contents

Check out section 5. Library Source

You can use the shift key to select multiple items in a row, or the ctrl key to select multiple items that are in random order.

thanks for that answer Williamts99

As I am not able to sort the big song table by path, there always is one to remove one to let there. So some thousands of mouseclicks with ctrl pressed would be necessary.

I'd most rather like to know a way to reset rhythmbox to make a clean reimport. I'm not afraid of the commandline by the way, i just don't know where to look.

No problem, you can select the first song, then hold down the shift key and select the last song, that will select every song, then you can remove them all in one shot, three/four mouse clicks.

I figured I would also add, that if you really want to start from scratch, you can delete the files in ~/.gnome2/rhythmbox

Menu, Places>Home Folder

Then press CTRL+H to show hidden files, browse to /.gnome2/rhythmbox and delete the files in that folder.
or specifically rhythmdb.xml
