rhythmbox package

mp3 downloaded but won't play

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

File shows up in rhythmbox downloaded podcast list but when you attempt to play it you get an unspecific fail message.
I've also had trouble setting a preference for playback device. Either Rhythembox or Totem movie player load and I don't want either of them. I've specified Audacity and sometimes it loads but only sometimes.
I'm using Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon.

How have you tried to set the settings for which application should play which files?
How do you open the files, single click, double click or from inside an application?

Can you help with this problem?
