want to migrate from ipodder - desire opml support

Asked by less interesting

I think this is a feature request.

I'm migrating from MS based products and I have a lot of podcasts in my ipodder client. ipodder allows opml export to allow easy movement of subscriptions from one client to another, even Apple's itunes supports the subscription import however none of the *nix clients support importing opml files

Anyone know how to go about getting this functionality added to the wish list

Thanks

Kevin

Well you could use ipodder under Linux. Its development is discontinued but it works fine here. iPodder on Linux has an import OPML option just like the windows version.

Alan's answer worked just fine for me.

ipodder is only available as an RPM package however I was able to find some notes that showed how an RPM package can be converted to debian using the 'alien' command.

    sudo alien -i iPodder-2.1.9-0.9bgn.src.rpm
and then loaded using dpkg
    sudo dpkg -i ipodder_2.1.9-1.9_all.deb

Adept then advised there was an update - loaded the update

and used <alt-f2> to launch ipodder

Imported my opml file and off I went

Followed those instructions to convert the RPM to a .deb installation package I was then able to use

Initially I did try to use ipodder but I was scared off by the warnings in the forums about ipodder issues. And a note from the developer saying he was withdrawing it. However's Alan's Postive feedback on it made me have a go - with success

Thats good news however it's worth noting iPodder is actually in the Ubuntu repository, you shouldn't need to alien an rpm to get it.
