randomly fill size limted playlist from library

Asked by charly4711

I'm trying to create a dynamic playlist of a size to fit my portable device, then filter by some genres.
If I do that, rb will add titles in the order it finds them. I end up with a couple of complete albums on the playlist.

What I'd prefer is a checkbox "random selection" or smth. to make rb adhere to filters, but then randomly pick from the result list up to the size limit.

There doesn't seem to be such a feature in the application, is there?
Is there perhaps an external plugin I can add?
Or can anybody comment on future plans? I'm reading about a shuffle plugin feature which will allow you to shuffle the order of a playlist ... though for my use-case that shuffling comes to late. It will still add the same few albums to the playlist, only I can shuffle the order in which they are played ... that is kinda useless on a device like the iPod shuffle (or any other device that has a shuffle switch).

TIA,
Karl.

As far as I know, RB doesn't yet have that feature. There is something that comes close, however, and that is through the use of Automatic Playlists. You can create one from Music > Playlists > New Automatic Playlist. Check the box that says Limit and choose some criteria, but again it doesn't appear randomization is supported at this time.

Can you help with this problem?
