rhythmbox to mp3 obstacle

Asked by Paul michael hearn

I have tried to transfer music from rhythmbox to my alba 2gb mp3 player without joy. I have downloaded soundjuicer, VLN, Ubuntu one etc, however, my computer system doesn't show these in the applications/places/system at top of the screen. I am starting to go bald following various attempts at ripping my hair out. Please help!

What's the problem?

If its that Ubuntu wont play mp3 files then this can easily be fixed: If you use Ubuntu open a terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) and enter the following command

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

If I have guessed wrong or you aren't using Ubuntu but one of the other variants such as Kubuntu, Xubuntu etc. Then we need more information

1. To give us some information about your system

lsb_release -a; uname -a; dpkg -l | egrep 'flash|gnash|swf|spark|restricted';

2. What version are you using: Ubuntu, Kubuntu, etc.

3. When you plug your mp3 player in can you see it in the file manager

4. What are you trying to do?

Great exhibition. The Frankenstein encounter with Professor Frayling was quite surreal...

if I remember rightly, it started to snow that very same day, too...

“The Surgeon’s Mate’ – the seventh book in the Patrick O’Brian’s
Aubrey/Maturin Series
Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin are ordered home by despatch vessel to bring
the news of their latest victory to the government. But Maturin is a marked man
for the havoc he has wrought in the French intelligence network in the New
World, and the attentions of two privateers soon become menacing. The chase
that follows is as thrilling, as tense and as unexpected in its culmination as
anything Patrick O'Brian has written.

“A Plastic Ocean”
Introduced by: Michael Potts, Director of Photography

Scientists Solving a Jigsaw Puzzle…Gyre by Gyre

(gyre: is any large system of circulating ocean currents)

If it was happening in one gyre, they suspected it was happening in all of
them. But the filmmakers needed experts to prove it.

Scientists were brought in at each stage to analyze the findings from one part
of the story to add their data to the overall report on the five gyres.

In the center of the Pacific Ocean gyre the researchers found more plastic than
plankton. ‘A Plastic Ocean’ documents the newest science, proving how
plastics, once they enter the oceans, break up into small particulates that
enter the food chain where they attract toxins like a magnet. These toxins are
stored in seafood’s fatty tissues, and eventually consumed by us.

Award-winning documentary film by Craig Lenson revealing the shocking truth
about what is truly lurking beneath the ocean’s surface...

“The Kantian Idea of a European Union”
  Prof Simon Glendinning, LSE

We are used to thinking about the European Union as a political project.
However, the history of its idea has its origins not in international politics
but cosmopolitan philosophy, and in particular the projection of a European
‘pacific federation’ in the writings of Immanuel Kant.

This lecture will explore these philosophical roots and
assess their relevance to the still faltering political project we see today…
