I am locked out of my ipod touch due to forgotten password what can I do now

We have ubuntu 10.04 my son has never synced it to itunes or rhythembox and forgot his password locked himself out of his ipod and now we need to reset it. How can we do that or can we do that?

I suggest you use a Windows PC. It's what iPods are made for and it will work a little better

I don't own an iPod so I have not been able to test this.
