can't playback from samba share

Asked by Matthias

Hi,

after installing Ubuntu 12.04 64bit (fresh installation with an existing home from an ubuntu 10.10 installation) I can't playback mp3s from a mounted samba share anymore.

The files are played for one or two seconds then silence, but the progress indicator still continues, when I skip forward, the sound is played again for one or two seconds. There are no problems with local files or web radios.

I tried to remove all old rhythbox data like in .config/ .local/ .cache/ ./gconf<whatever> (including a restart of the gconf daemon), but this didn't help.

Playing the files with mplayer directly (mplayer ~/.gvfs/.../foo.mp3) works.

Any tips?

matthias
