rhythmbox no sound on playing mp3 how to solve ?

I install Ubuntu 10.04 LTS to my DELL Inspiron N5110 laptop (Dual boot with windows)
then I update for available updates using update manager
then Rythmbox music player has been installed.
Then I try to open MP3 file from rythmbox application. It start playing but does not give any sound.
in Volume manager (in Panel) in sound preference application tab is not muted and when playing from the player, and player is also not mute.
But, In Volume manager (in Panel),in sound preference, Hard were tab does not show any device for configure.

please tell what is the solution for this matter

That person claims headphones work.

Have you install ubuntu-restricted-extras package?

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

Will install it, you will need TAB and ENTER to accept the license
