How to import mp4 file

Asked by EarlRodd on 2006-08-24

In rhythmbox, how do I import a simple mp3 file?
When I use the Music->importFile function, it says
my mp3 file is "not an audio stream".

I always use Import Folder, to import a folder full of my mp3s, that works just fine for me.

I have the same problem, both with a single mp3 and with a complete folder.
The exact error is "The file is not an audio stream file:<path>"
It only works with wav files.

The solution was to install the package:

gstreamer-ugly

to get the necessary mp3 support into rhythmbox.

The package is named:

gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly

And rhythmbox really should mention this at least if not have a button that will install the package (perhaps with a nag about MP3s being patent encumbered).

Can you help with this problem?
