Rhythmbox settings

Asked by Joseph

I'm trying to clear out the library location that rhythmbox uses and I can't clear the settings.. I've deleted these files:

rm -rf ~/.local/share/rhythmbox/
rm -rf ~/.cache/rhythmbox/
rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/rhythmbox/

so now
find ~/. -name '*rhythm*'
returns nothing but when I open rhythmbox it starts populating files from the old library location.

How can I make it like I'm running it for the first time?

Rhythmbox 0.12.8
Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS

Hello Joseph,

Did you mean that rhythmbox was start populating again after its configuration already deleted?
Try this.. open your rhythmbox, then choose Edit > Preferences. Choose Music, then uncheck "Watch my library for new files". After that, you can close your rhythmbox. Then remove again its configuration like you did before. Then open your rhythmbox again. I hope your rhythmbox will not populating again.

Hace a nice try...

That stopped it from populating ... but it should

I want to know where all the configuration files are... it should be easy to clear the settings.

To answer your question: I deleted the listed files and then opened rhythmbox and it still had a library location set.

Hello Joseph,

You were already run these command:
rm -rf ~/.local/share/rhythmbox/
rm -rf ~/.cache/rhythmbox/
rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/rhythmbox/

That's will delete all rhythmbox preferences. But, if you want a simple one, you can try this software:
http://bleachbit.sourceforge.net/

Not just rhythmbox's preferences, firefox's, msn's, etc.. can be deleted from that software. Have a nice try...

Can you help with this problem?
