Rhythmbox won't play all podcasts

Some of the podcasts I have subscribed to in Rhythmbox won't play. Well, they play but there is absolutely no volume. If I load the .mp3 file in a different media player (e.g., Totem) it works fine.

You probably don't have the MP3 plugin installed for Rhythmbox.

Open the Ubuntu Software Center, and type and install "GStreamer Extra Plugins."

But this only affects *some* of the MP3 podcasts. In particular, "http://feeds.feedburner.com/todayinthepast". While this one works all the time: http://www.npr.org/rss/podcast.php?id=500005

Both are stored as .mp3 files in my directory.

Oh, and "GStreamer Extra Plugins" is already installed.

Not so much an answer, but have you tried with VLC?
