I can't merge one artist's songs together (under 2 different names)

Asked by Bora Uran

In Rhthymbox, I have one artist, but their content appears under two different names. In other words, I have the artist "Blink 182", with 1 album, and "Blink-182" (hyphenated) with the other 4. As soon as I merge the one isolated album with the rest, it goes back to it's own category. I cannot simply copy and paste either, I have tried this. How can I make this change permanent?

Is the partition holding the music files mounted read/writable?

If so, you can use easytag to modify the idv3 and idv2 tags of the files.

I looked at the properties section of the trouble files (all in the same folder), and under permissions, they are all set to read and write. And I have installed EasyTag, but I'm not quite sure how to change the tags you mentioned, and what to change them to.

Load up easytag then point it to the FOLDER containing MP3s, you can then cycle through and changes tags. You can even apply a tag to all the MP3s in the folder in one shot. Its basically a cheap GUI to idv3tag as nowadays people seem to get offended and call it "old fashioned" if they start to need to use a terminal
