have codecs, but still won't work in rbox

Asked by shaftesburyiv

I have the win32 codecs and they allow me to use MoviePlayer to play my wma files, but for some reason Rhythmnbox won't play them still. How do I get it to use the codecs? I have already added the Ubuntu restricted, all four g-steamers, and adopted the win32 codecs correctly. I just get the little red sign with the white line that says I need a decoder ... which decoder?

Which version of Ubuntu are you using?

I am using Gutsy with Rhythmbox 0.11.2 and the WMA file I found on http://wahiduddin.net/troubleshooting/trouble_sound.htm plays without any problems.

As a suggestion, take a look at the following:

I'm using 7.04. I don't get rbox from the drop down menu to play that, only xmms, and that doesn't work either. It does work in MoviePlayer though, when I save it to my desktop.

Wait ... I restarted it and now it seems to work!
