Rhythmbox won't run

Rhythmbox won't run. When I try to open the program, the symbol appears briefly in the top bar then disappears. I've tried re-installing as well as completely removing then reinstalling it (and associated programs) but to no avail.

It is several weeks since I ran Rythmbox (successfully) so I can't relate the problem to a specific day / update.

Totem Movie Player 2.30.2 works fine.

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 and the installed version of Rhythmbox is 0.12.8-0ubuntu7
