Rhythmbox Issues

Asked by dd

Hello Ubuntu users,

I have a few questions about Rhythmbox. First, I have all my audio files on a separate Windows partition which I can access anytime and I always have mounted. When I choose to import them into Rhythm Box, will it copy all those files into the Ubuntu partition rather than just play the files from the other partition? Second, once I import all the songs, I notice that there are like 100 or 500 songs that are missing. Why is that and how can I fix it?

Thanks,
dd

As far as the first part of your question goes, it looks like you already did an import folder. Right click on a song from the list, select "Properties", and go to the "Details" tab. It should give the location of the file and I believe you'll find it is still in the Windows Partition.
I'm not sure about the missing songs, so I hope someone will jump in to answer that. I'm guessing the format of the song? What type(s) are they? (mp3? wav? etc.)

I have mostly mp3 and the iTunes format. I'm not sure if that's aac or not...

It shouldn't copy into your Ubuntu partition. It just loads the files into the Rhythmbox library, which may look like it is copying. And you can't import the iTunes protected format, it's only able to be played in iTunes.
