problem playing mms streams in rhythmbox

Asked by Gabe Menvielle

I have installed all the gstreamer plugins. The bad and the ugly and the some...
Rhythmbox does not want to play the following radio station:

mms://fm967.telecomdatacenter.com.ar/fm967 (I have learned it by heart, by now)

I need to schedule this station to record for two hours every Saturday @ 10AM EST, but I can't seem to figure out how to even make Rhythmbox play it.

Am I missing something?

I a running Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 with all the updates as of today.

Thank you!

Gabe.

Thank you for your prompt reply!
Unfortunately though, the proposed solution (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/370860) does not fix the problem. I already have the plugins as indicated. I had tried that before asking the question.

For what I read this has been going on for some time.
Oh well. There goes Rhythmbox... At least for now.
I like it a lot otherwise, but I can't not listen to mms streams. Not my choice. The cultural radio stations I listen to, to update my arts info for work, use this format. I know they should use open formats especially since they are government owned and operated stations, but that is out of my control.

Thanks!

Gabe.
