Rhythmbox sorting and error messages

Asked by Bruce McCormick

I get an error "Error transferring track - Resource not found".

I tried sending an error report several times via their "Help/Report a Problem", but keep getting a message "Cannot connect to crash DB, please check your Internet connection." My connection is fine. I can go to any site I select out of my Bookmarks.

I'm running 0.12.5

1. The error message doesn't state 1) the problem song 2) what resource is "not found" and 3) doesn't give a clue as to how to fix it.
2. The transfer process doesn't stop at the the problem song - it just jumps over it so I can't even tell what song it is.

Who writes this junk. I was a programmer for over 25 years and I thought we all learned ages ago to write meaningful error messages and give the user a chance to fix the problem on the fly??????????

On top of that, their sort sequence stinks. If you look at the ASCII sort sequence, space is a sortable character. These guys just ignore what every other app I have EVER seen does and ignore spaces, so comparing a sorted list in their app to a directory listing is much more difficult (yes, I know I could use diff, but should I have to?)

Anyway, is there a fix for the sorting issue? Any guesses why I can't "contact" their crash DB?

Getting upset is useless, to read bug reports is helpful.
Although you may submit a bug report about misleading message.
