music from my ipod to rhythmbox?

i am trying to transfer music from my ipod to rhythmbox ipod nano 8gb

I see that you want to transfer music FROM iPod to Rhythmbox. Sorry for misunderstanding it.
When you plug your iPod, is it automatically detected by Ubuntu? If yes, can you access the directories? You'll notice there folders with names like F00, F01, F02 and so on depending on how many music you have. From those folders, you can copy your music to your hard drive. Is that what you want to do?

I would also suggest trying other applications like Songbird or Amarok.
