Change the release name to the version you are using

I have already tried this and many other Tutorials, downloading from googlecode and building was never a problem, but after finally starting the red5.sh, ist never opens the necessary ports including 5080 or quits immediately!

Another question, in this tutorial,
http://tumbledesign.com/how-to-install-red5-0-9-on-ubuntu-10-04-lts/
its not necessary to build it with "/usr/share/ant/bin/ant"

This Version works for me, so what is the difference between the normal way, by building it with "/usr/share/ant/bin/ant" and this one, mentioned in the tutorial above?

Is there a difference in the performance? How can I get the "/usr/share/ant/bin/ant" version running?

Hi theman,

AFAIK, there will not be any difference in performance. The only thing is that you can not do core development of red5 server without source building. But you can build applications to run over the server.

And if you are following sandeep's blog, then let me tell you, RED5 source in the svn repository has got major changes recently. In brief, earlier it was bound with tomcat. Now tomcat plugin you have to download and configure accordingly. For reference, you can view http://groups.google.com/group/red5interest/browse_thread/thread/465f6a8641c03b9a/ebb7483909712fcf?lnk=gst&q=red5+installation#ebb7483909712fcf

@ experts,
I am behind authentication proxy. So, can anyone point out which are the places to set proxy to build the source successfully ?
