Hi,

How have you installed RealPlayer? Have you used Add/Remove?

       chmod a+x RealPlayer11GOLD.bin
       sudo ./RealPlayer11GOLD.bin

Then I created a link to the realplay startup script in /usr/local/bin to ensure the script is included in the system's $PATH:

            sudo ln -s /opt/real/RealPlayer/realplay /usr/local/bin

You can add the medibuntu repo

http://packages.medibuntu.org/jaunty/realplayer.html

sudo wget http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/jaunty.list --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get update

you will get a moan about the repo not being verified, say yes, this will now be fixed as the medibuntu keyring provides the security for it.

you can now run:

sudo apt-get install realplayer

If you got a good install using the .bin file then this is not needed.

I installed RealPlayer by another way - from package "realplayer_11.0.0-0.2medibuntu2_i386.deb". All seemed to be OK until I tried to play .wmv file. The message was the same: missing element: "application/vnd.rn-wm-script"

I feel that without connection to Internet from Ubuntu (through serial modem Axesstel MV200L - it does not work) I am not able the problem solve. Am I right ???
