Replace beta "rar" package with stable 4.00 for initial release of Kubuntu 11.04 (Natty)

Asked by W5WMW

There isn't much time before the Ubuntu family 11.04 (Natty) i386 and x64 (Kubuntu) is released. As an unaffiliated long-time 15-year registered RAR user (DOS, MS-Windows, Linux), I highly suggest replacing the beta version of the "rar" package with the stable rar 4.00 for 32 and 64 bit for inclusion in the initial release of Natty, rather than the older beta currently slated for Natty release. I saw that Martin Meredith is the maintainer of the rar package. I hope he can send rar 4.00 upstream. soon.

Sorry, I'm relatively new at official bug/upgrade reporting, so I hope I did this right. Thank you.

Since you've submitted bug 731066 for this, are you just posting here as well in order to increase visibility, or is there a question you're looking to have answered? If there is a question, please clarify what it is you still need to know. If there is no question, please mark this as Solved.

If your question is whether or not bug 731066 is correctly submitted, then the answer is yes, it looks good.

No, I wasn't just trying to increase visibility, rather I was just unsure as to which option (bug or question) was to be used for this issue. Thanks.
