Qtiplot no longer works following 9.10 upgrade...

I just upgraded my system from 9.04 to 9.10. Following this Qtiplot no longer works. This is an excellent program and one of the main reasons I'm using Ubuntu, I would love for this to be fixed so I can continue working with it. The program will open but as soon as one tries to plot something it crashes leaving no error messages.
On a side note, I can't figure out how to distribute icons on the left and right hand sides of the panel, they all bunch up on the left. I also can't figure out how to add a terminal to the panel.
