How to get this updated?

Asked by Joshua Tasker

Hi, the current version of this package is rather outdated.

The latest version available at http://code.google.com/p/python-weather-api/source/browse/#svn%2Ftrunk adds Python3 compatibility and fixes some issues with Yahoo Weather that prevented indicator-weather from getting a forecast from Yahoo.

How does one go about getting this package updated?

Specifically, it fixes this issue with Indicator-Weather: https://answers.launchpad.net/weather-indicator/+question/209490

Hi Joshua ,
if you want to install this latest version you could follow the instructions here
http://code.google.com/p/python-weather-api/

Then see if weather-indicator works better.

Regards

Thanks, but that's not what I was asking -- I'm the one who rewrote that latest version!

I updated python-weather-api specifically to fix those issues I mentioned above. So I already have it installed!

I was inquiring as to how to get the package maintainer to look into updating the package?

File a bug against the package in Launchpad bugs:

If the package is pywapi then in a terminal enter

-------------------------
ubuntu-bug pywapi
-----------------------------

Make sure the bug is tagged 'upgrade-software-version'

For other tags see: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Tags

Include details of where the latest code is available and why the update is needed. For example it fixes this issue with Indicator-Weather: https://answers.launchpad.net/weather-indicator/+question/209490

If possible I would try installing it on your system so you can also report that you have tested it and if it works.

This will make the bug maintainers aware of the issue and may lead to it getting fixed.
