no /usr/lib/pymodules, pyshared, python-mutagen package does not work with 2.7, no PYTHONPATH environment variable set?

Asked by discord

Hello,

I recently installed the python2.7 package, and python-mutagen, however I cannot find a location for the python modules, and the PYTHONPATH environment variable is not set. Where are python2.7 modules supposed to be stored, and why doesn't python-mutagen working with python2.7?

This is because in Maverick, the pyhthon2.7 interpreter is packaged, but it's not a supported Python version for building modules and extensions. Python2.7 was released too late in the development cycle to be properly integrated for Maverick. It will be supported for modules and extensions and my be the default Python in 11.04.
