i ran sudo apt-get remove python :( please help

i ran that... and i looked through the FAQs. i pressed ctrl + alt + f2 and got the terminal. ran apt-get update and install ubuntu-desktop... they didnt work. i think i cant connect to the internet. please help

oh yea and if you cant help me fix it... is there a way to copy my hard drive to an external one i have? thanks in advance

Ouch, python is important, but apt-get does not depend upon python, so maybe you forgot sudo. In the virtual terminal:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install python
