I suggest you report a bug to show interest in the package. You may find a PPA here on Launchpad.net

You have to be aware that psystemd in focal depends on Python3 Version 3.8 which is not available in bionic.
This means that backporting pystemd to bionic is not trivial and will require additional work for the dependencies.

As I understand from the changelog, no changes where required to go from python3.7 to python3.8.
So backporting should be trivial in this particular case?

Bionic contains only python3 version 3.6.*

Well it works also under 3.6 since it is currently working fine when installed with pip.

Is there any action I can take to verify this even more? Or to assist with the release?

I doubt whether there will ever be an official release for bionic.
What you could do is creating a PPA with such version which then can be used by everybody who wants. This would also prove that this package can be backported without problems.

Can you help with this problem?
