When I copy text from putty to gedit it does not paste as it is. If i paste it, I get http://
i mean it does not paste as it is. If i copy from gnome-terminal it paste as it is

Hello Kaushal,
Can you try to highlight text in your putty window with a left click and then make a middle click to paste to destination ?
If you don't have a middle button on your mouse, click on left and right at the same time.

I am affraid I can't help futher as I am not able to replicate your issue. It is working fine on my side (hardy heron).
I think we need to know what version of ubuntu you are using and how did you install putty ?

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop (Hard Heron). I installed putty using synaptic package manager.
(ii putty 0.60-2build1 Telnet/SSH client for X)
I did followed the Bug URL https:/
by left clicking the mouse while selecting the text on the putty session and then using the middle button mouse to paste it on gedit or the browser
It didnot worked for me :-(
