In order to understand purity-off, you must first understand purity.

The "purity" package administers a "purity test" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purity_test) gauging nerd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nerd) and hacker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacker) experience and knowledge. Installing the "purity-off" package extends the existing purity installation to also ask questions pertaining to "sexual purity" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chastity).

These questions are separated out into a separate package because material of a sexual nature, even when not pornographic, tends to produce offense and discomfort in many people. The "off" in "purity-off" probably stands for "offensive". Furthermore, for entertainment value (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribaldry), some purity tests ask questions about rare or "extreme" sexual behaviors, some of which may violate social norms or be hurtful or malicious to others if actually practiced. Thus, someone who is not typically bothered by discussions of sex and sexuality might still be put off by some sexual purity tests. Since I have not myself used the packages "purity" and "purity-off", I do not know if the questions added by "purity-off" seek to shock the user in this way.

To use purity-off, simply install it, then run the command "purity list". That will tell you how to run the test installed by purity-off (as well as how to run the other tests that are present in the default installation of purity, without the purity-off package).

If you need additional assistance getting purity-off running, please feel free to post again.

Slight correction: I have found that there are multiple tests provided by purity-off, and that none of their names appear when you run "purity list". Instead, you can find the names at http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick/all/purity-off/filelist. The names are the text at the end of each line (i.e. after the file / character), not including "changelog.Debian.gz" and "copyright".
