failed to fetch updates.

Hi!

I had earlier on installed ubuntu 8.04 as a dual boot with windowsxp. After it developed problems i installed ubuntu again and used the guided option and istalled it in the entire disk. Now after instalation i still cannot get updates as the connection fails each time i try. I get this error!

If you're not behind a router or a proxy you ca go to System > Administration > Software Sources, choose the main servers and try again.

otherwise, you have to configure your network connection to bypass your proxy/router

can you connect to internet in a browser?
If yes just change the server

if not, you have to diagnose your network connection

Hi kangaru,

Have you try another mirror? There are a lot of mirrors of ubuntu. Please take a look at this one:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archivemirrors

Choose the nearest ones where your connected to the internet. Hopefully it will help you to updates and upgrade your ubuntu.

Wajih, i have chosen the best servers but still the same error appears. I am connecting to the internet well.

Luky, i have chosen the best mirror but still can't get the updates.

This error came after i re-istalled ubuntu. Before i would get the updates using the same network am using.

Even though you have selected the nearest mirror, try changing the mirror.

Hmmm.. this is weird. Usually, the main servers never let down me. Kangaru question is the same one with this:

So, like Wajih Letaief and Rajkumar .R said, try another mirror.
