proftpd-1.3.2rc3 package preparation

Asked by Richard Rega

proftpd-1.3.2rc2+ is a significant upgrade considering that it fixes the SSL/TLS session shutdown protocol that FTP clients like Filezilla now correctly enforce.

Is someone currently working on a proftpd-1.3.2 package for the current version of Ubuntu (8.10) and is it publicly available somewhere? I'd like to help test this version of proftpd, but don't know where/how to upgrade my 'stable' ubuntu package to an 'unstable' ubuntu package.

So... according to their website, http://www.proftpd.org/ appears to have a final release for 1.3.2.

Is there somewhere I can go or check to see or help with getting this as an official Ubuntu 8.10 package?

I am manually compiling this...shouldn't Ubuntu save me THAT?

Can you help with this problem?
