Help installing Privoxy

Asked by Weboh

I am trying to install Privoxy (privoxy.org). I have read the download instructions, but I am an "absolute beginner," and am confused by it (i.e. "apt-get install privoxy" Command not working)(The location of Privoxy is in my home folder). I want the install instructions for Ubuntu 10.4 in as simple terms as possible, preferably just the commands in order to enter into the terminal.

If possible, I would also like clearer instructions on how to configure the program once it is installed.

That got it installed, but now I don't know how to make it work. I tried privoxy's readme, but I couldn't find the Ubuntu-specific instructions. When I told Chrome to connect to proxy server the way it told me to, Chrome just couldn't connect to anything. I now need Ubuntu-specific installation instructions.

Privoxy is the easiest app to setup that I can think of, there is a community doc which I found with the above search. Did you use the community doc to set it up? Did you try and find guides?

Can you help with this problem?
