How can I submit an updated package?

you need to talk to the 'masters of the universe' (MOTU) about packaging, but its generally not needed in this case. every 6 months the ubuntu repo's are synced with debian which has the lastest version of everything. thus in the next version of ubuntu it should have the latest version of preload.

packages for hardy don't get upgraded versions.

Thank you for answering. However, as I recall from the pages for Intrepid, preload is still just a variant of the older 0.4 version. I have generated my own package for 0.6.3, which I'm not sure even Debian has updated. The last update on Debian's end appears to have been Spring 2007.

Since Intrepid is already in the beta stage, You cant upload new versions of packages now to intrepid.

One thing you can do is activate your PPA and upload to it..

Is there anything that is needed to help this along?
As of Jaunty preload is still on version 0.4-5 and I see in Karmic is also using that version.

Preload is now on version 0.6.4 [http://sourceforge.net/projects/preload]

Just wondering if there is anything that I can do to help with this, I love Ubuntu and the community and think everyone does a sterling job, so not pointing fingers here, just want to make sure that it's not a simple lack of man hours or administration that is keeping this package from being updated... Maybe I could help?

This is good news. Thanks to the package submitter for correcting this situation. I've been having to manually install my own 0.6.3 deb for work installs since I submitted this request.
